Among other things, it also introduced audio logs as a storytelling tool, something still widely used in many games today.īringing something as old as System Shock to modern audiences is no small task as the game is obviously very dated in technical terms. ![]() It was one of the first fully 3D games, instead of linear levels in games like Doom it focused on open exploration, looting for resources, shooting, and story. The original released way back in 1994, and was in many ways ahead of its time. To ensure this reboot is as true to the original as possible, we’ve been collaborating with the original developers of System Shock 1.Night Dive Studio ’s upcoming remake of the original System Shock is set for release sometime at the end of this Summer. In System Shock, you’ll take on the role of a resourceful hacker as you explore and survive the terrors of Citadel Station brought on by a rogue AI named SHODAN We’ve gathered a team of industry veterans from games like Fallout: New Vegas, Mass Effect, and BioShock to create a faithful reboot of the classic game we all know and love. Nightdive has admitted to adding a new look and feel to System Shock, but also reatining the classic gameplay and story of the original. This demo is your chance to get up close with Nightdive Studios reimagining of this classic game. Players will be able to explore the Medical Bay and unlock all of System Shock’s weapons.
